JinkoSolar to Supply 3GW TOPCon Modules to Acwa Power

Chinese solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar has entered into a supply agreement with Acwa Power to provide approximately 3 GW of tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules for Saudi Arabia's Haden and Al-Khushaybi projects, aiding the country's renewable energy initiatives.

JinkoSolar Secures Supply Deal for Haden and Al-Khushaybi Projects

The newly signed contract encompasses the supply of TOPCon modules for the PIF4 project, a significant initiative backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). This project comprises two sub-projects—Haden and Al-Khushaybi—with a combined capacity of 3 GW.

The Haden project, which has a capacity of 1.2 GW was awarded to the China Energy Engineering Group Consortium. It will utilise JinkoSolar’s high-efficiency Tiger Neo N-type 78 series modules, known for their outstanding performance and durability. These solar modules are engineered to endure extreme climatic conditions, including high irradiation, elevated temperatures, significant temperature fluctuations between day and night and frequent sandstorms in Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Khushaybi project, with a capacity of 1.8 GW was awarded to the Indian firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T). This project will use JinkoSolar’s latest Tiger Neo N-type 66 series modules, which provide enhanced energy efficiency and superior reliability. Incorporating these advanced solar modules guarantees consistent and long-term energy production, fulfilling the stringent demands of the Saudi market.

Tiger Neo Modules: Enhanced Efficiency with TOPCon Technology

JinkoSolar’s Tiger Neo modules feature advanced N-type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology, which significantly minimizes the degradation rate of the modules, enhancing their longevity and ensuring stable long-term performance. Furthermore, the lower temperature coefficients of the Tiger Neo modules contribute to improved energy efficiency, even in high-temperature conditions.

These technical attributes make Tiger Neo modules an excellent option for solar projects in Saudi Arabia, where environmental conditions can be quite challenging. The modules' high reliability guarantees consistent energy production, supporting the country’s energy production objectives.

The Partnership Supports Saudi Arabia's Carbon Neutrality Goals

The partnership between JinkoSolar and ACWA Power aligns with Saudi Arabia's strategy to attain carbon neutrality by 2060. By investing in advanced solar technologies, the country enhances its ability to generate clean and renewable energy, thereby decreasing its reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, JinkoSolar's collaboration with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and other organizations aims to localize solar module production, stimulating the local economy and creating jobs in the renewable energy sector.

With this 3 GW contract, JinkoSolar strengthens its status as a leader in the global photovoltaic module market. The partnership with ACWA Power and other Saudi stakeholders sets the stage for future ambitious projects, further increasing JinkoSolar’s footprint in the Middle East.

Upcoming initiatives include expanding production capabilities in Saudi Arabia and incorporating even more advanced technologies to address the rising demand for clean energy. This positive trajectory underscores JinkoSolar’s dedication to innovation and sustainability, contributing to a greener and more resilient energy future.
