Dr. Chinonso Egemba donated a solar facility to Epe General Hospital to improve healthcare in Nigeria. Similarly, Chief Segun Ajibulu enhanced rural development in Ekiti State by installing solar-powered streetlights in Ipao-Ekiti through his foundation's annual intervention program.
Solar Facility Powers Epe General Hospital
In a groundbreaking initiative to advance sustainable energy solutions in Nigeria, notable figures are making remarkable strides with the deployment of solar facilities. These efforts aim to enhance healthcare services and bolster community development, which showcases the transformative potential of renewable energy.
Dr. Chinonso Egemba — widely known as Aproko Doctor — has made a notable impact on healthcare delivery in Nigeria. The health advocate and medical professional recently donated an advanced 11KW solar power system powered by the Luminous Rayverter to Epe General Hospital.
This cutting-edge solar facility was installed at the Mother-Child Centre of the hospital. A statement confirming the installation highlighted the facility's role in providing uninterrupted electricity for essential healthcare services. By eliminating power outages, the solar solution ensures that critical operations at the Mother-Child Centre can continue without disruption.
Speaking about his motivation, Dr. Egemba shared his vision. “This Christmas, I wanted to give back in a way that truly saves lives. The Mother-Child Centre is a critical part of our healthcare system, as it offers vital care to mothers and newborns. For such a project, I needed a reliable solution combining efficiency, durability, and robust after-sales support. Luminous was the obvious choice,” he said.
A Commitment to Technology and Healthcare Transformation
Dr. Egemba’s initiative underscores his dedication to leveraging technology to address pressing community needs. By adopting solar facilities, he demonstrates the vital role renewable energy plays in transforming healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
This sentiment was echoed by Simba Group, the distributors of Luminous in Nigeria. “This project highlights Aproko Doctor’s unwavering commitment to improving lives through practical solutions. It also showcases the critical role solar power plays in revolutionizing healthcare across the country,” the group stated.
Chief Segun Ajibulu Brings Solar Power to Ekiti Communities
Meanwhile, in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Ajibulu has extended the benefits of solar energy to rural communities. The former senatorial aspirant and philanthropist recently installed solar-powered streetlights in Ipao-Ekiti as part of the Segun Ajibulu Foundation’s annual social intervention program.
The initiative included the installation of 20 solar-powered streetlights in strategic locations. The project was complemented by free medical outreach programs and the distribution of palliatives to beneficiaries in 10 communities. These communities include Ipao, Oke Ako, Irele, Ajowa, Odo Oro, Ikole, Ijesa Isu, Itapaji, Iyemero, and Ayebode-Ekiti.
Chief Ajibulu’s foundation — established 33 years ago, has consistently provided support to communities across Ekiti State. The philanthropist expressed gratitude for the ability to sustain the initiative. “This program is my way of giving back to society. I started it 33 years ago after my father’s death. By God’s grace, I have sustained it since then. My prayer is for more resources to do even greater things in the future,” he said.
During this year’s program, approximately 1,500 widows and elderly individuals received food items and cash gifts. The foundation also organized children’s events, including a funfair and a Christmas party, where children received clothing and gifts.
Community Leaders and Government Officials Commend the Effort
The solar facility project and other initiatives have drawn praise from various quarters. Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, described Ajibulu as a philanthropist committed to the welfare of his people. “Chief Ajibulu is one of the strong pillars of the APC in Ekiti and the Southwest. His dedication to community development is exemplary,” he said.
Similarly, Prince Michael Ogungbemi, Chairman of the Ajoni Local Council Development Area, lauded the initiative. “For someone not holding political office to consistently support communities for over 33 years is remarkable. Chief Ajibulu is a true leader, assisting in community development and complementing the governor’s efforts,” Ogungbemi stated.
The growing adoption of solar facilities in Nigeria is improving access to essential services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure. These initiatives are set to revolutionize service delivery while promoting sustainability and community development nationwide.
