Sunview Group has announced its entry into Uzbekistan's energy sector following agreements with the country's Ministry of Energy. The planned projects include constructing a 400-megawatt solar plant in the Andijan region and a 200-megawatt plant in the Fergana region.
Sunview Partners with Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy for Solar Plants
Sunview—a prominent company in the renewable energy sector—has unveiled a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This collaboration which was facilitated by its subsidiary Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd is set to focus on the development of two major solar plants in Uzbekistan.
The company also showed interest in exploring the feasibility of supplying renewable energy to water-pumping stations in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region, contributing to a larger effort to bolster sustainable energy infrastructure in the country.
“We are honoured to have been awarded these significant projects, which underscore our commitment to renewable energy and global expansion. This collaboration showcases our expertise in delivering large-scale solar PV and BESS installations.” said HP Ong, Group Executive Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of Sunview Group.
Sunview Group to Lead EPCC of the Solar and Battery Projects
According to the agreement, Sunview will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of two large-scale solar plants and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The projects consist of a 400 MWac solar plant paired with a 100 MW/200 MWh BESS in the Andijan district, as well as a 200 MWac solar plant with a 50 MW/100 MWh BESS in the Fergana district. Additionally, Sunview will serve as both the investor and asset owner for these initiatives.
“These 600MWac solar PV plant and 150MW/300MWh BESS projects added to our pipeline will provide financial feasibility to the Group in the coming years, supported by the favourable tariff for both the solar PV plants and BESS. They will also accelerate Uzbekistan's transition to renewable energy, helping to achieve a 40% contribution from renewable sources by 2030. By increasing the contribution of renewables, our projects will not only contribute to a stable energy supply but also reduce the nation's carbon footprint. We look forward to a successful partnership with the Uzbekistan government,” said HP Ong, Group Executive Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of Sunview Group.
